Claire Forlani (born July 1, 1972) is a British actress. She was born in Twickenham in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, south west London, England, as the daughter of an Italian father and a British mother. At the age of 11, Forlani entered the "Arts Educational School" in London, where she began preparing for her acting career. During the six years she attended this school, she also studied dance, which opened her the doors for performances like The Nutcracker Ballet and Orpheus in the Underworld. Having performed on stage, she was cast by the British Television for a TV series and a TV film.
Forlani's parents wanted to help her daughter to have offers for movie roles, and in 1993 decided to move to San Francisco. Soon came the first offer of the American film market. She was cast the same year for the TV mini-series J.F.K.: Reckless Youth, and Police Academy: Mission to Moscow.
In 1996 Forlani played a part in the hit The Rock, starring Sean Connery and Nicolas Cage. One year later her performance in The Last Time I Committed Suicide was finally acclaimed by the critics, and was for her the recognition of her work in previous, disappointing films.
With Meet Joe Black, co-starring Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins, she became in 1998 widely known to the American and the international public.
Forlani is currently single. She is dating John Cusack.
