Catherine Anne "Kate" Bosworth (born January 2, 1983 in Los Angeles, California, USA) is an American actress. She grew up in California but also moved to Connecticut and Massachusetts as a child. Her eyes are two different colors: hazel and blue. This condition is known as heterochromia iridium.
Her first break came when an open call came for The Horse Whisperer. Kate was fourteen and a champion equestrian and auditioned in New York. She landed the role of Judith. She first truly came into stardom, though, with 2002's surfing movie Blue Crush. Although the movie received average reviews, it allowed her to catch the eyes of a more mainstream audience.
She is currently filming in Australia, she received the coveted role of Lois Lane in the upcoming Superman movie, Superman Returns. Kate can also be seen later this year in a film adaption of Myla Goldberg's acclaimed novel Bee Season. The film portrays a disfunctional Jewish family; Kate plays the part of Chali, a Hare Krishna.
The actress has been continously mentioned in tabloids and celebrity magazines, partly because of her prolific relationship with young popular actor Orlando Bloom, as well as rumors of her possible anorexia and unusually thin frame. Kate can also be seen in numerous Revlon ads along with actresses Eva Mendes, Julianne Moore and Halle Berry.
In past years, she has mentioned her privileged upbringing and her long held wish to attend Princeton University. She will be attending in Fall 2005 to study psychology.
