Pamela Anderson was the first Canadian baby born on Canada's Centennial Day in
1967, and hit global consciousness as the Centennial Baby. Pamela was born on
Vancouver Island to Barry and Carol Anderson, a furnace repairman and waitress.
She is a natural brunette. Pamela Anderson attended Highland Secondary School
where she played the saxophone in the band and also played on the volleyball
team. She graduated in 1985, and her yearbook entry stated that her life
aspiration was "To become a California beach bum." In 1988, Pamela moved to
Vancouver where she worked as a fitness instructor.
In 1989, while attending a British Columbia Lions football game, Anderson was
"discovered" in a most unusual way. Dressed in a Labatt's Beer T-shirt, her
image was transmitted on the stadium's wide screen. The fans cheered the
beautiful girl, and she was brought down to the 50-yard line and introduced to
the appreciative crowd. As a result, she was signed to a commercial contract
with Labatt's and became the company's "Blue Zone" girl. The campaign was so
popular that other commercials and advertising assignments for Anderson soon
followed. Due to the recognition from these commercials she was soon approached
to do her first cover for Playboy magazine. Pamela has since gone on to grace
the cover again an astounding twelve times, more than any other woman in the
magazine's history. With the success and recognition she garnered from Playboy,
Anderson soon moved to Los Angeles where she acted in Home Improvement
(1991) and Baywatch (1989). Besides appearing in several films, she
also starred and produced her own television show VIP (1998) which ran
for four seasons until 2002. She now stars in films and makes cameo appearances in
television shows. In 2003, Spike TV launched a cartoon action series starring
Pamela called Striperella.
Pamela met Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee on New Year's eve 1994, and they
married two months later. Pamela and Tommy's first child, Brandon Thomas, was born
on June 6, 1996. Anderson filed for divorce in November of 1996, but she soon
reunited with Tommy Lee in Decemeber to support his fight against alcoholism.
Their second child, Dylan Jagger, was born a year later in December 29, 1997.
Both of her children were born at home with the help of a midwife. Pamela again
filed for divorce in February 1998 after Husband Tommy Lee was sentenced to six months in
jail for felony abuse. This separation was short-lived as she again
reunited with Tommy Lee in June 1999. Pamela eventually divorced Tommy Lee and
moved on to become engaged to Swedish model Marcus Schenkenberg, whom she met
at the World Music Awards in Monaco in April 2000. After she split with
Marcus, she became engaged to Kid Rock in April 2002. In June 2002, Pamela
dropped "Lee" from her last name, but after breaking up with Kid Rock in the
fall of 2003, she reunited with Tommy Lee. She had been recently diagnosed with
hepatitis C when they shared the same needle for their tattoo. The tattoo needle
was used to make the barb-wire tattoo rings on her left arm. She is undergoing
outpatient treatment for the disease at the University of California, Los
Angeles Medical Center. She has currently taken up making the public aware of
the dangers of Hepatitis C as her main cause.
Pamela Anderson is an active participant in various organizations. Pamela is a
vegetarian and an animal rights activist. In 1999, she won the Linda McCartney Award
for animal rights protectors. In May 2004, she wrote a $20,000 check to gymnast
Mohini Bhardwaj after reading a story where Mohini said she couldn't afford to
compete at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Anderson attended the U.S. Olympic Gymnastic
trials in Anaheim on June 26- 27 with a "Go Mo" sign.
Pamela became a U.S. citizen in April 2004 but will still keep her Canadian
citizenship.
