Sharon Stone was born and raised in Meadville, Pennsylvania to
Joseph, a factory worker and Dorothy, a homemaker. Sharon was the second of four
children (Michael, Sharon, Kelly, Patrick). Sharon's scar on her neck is from a
childhood accident. She was riding a horse and she ran right into a clothes line
and it ripped her neck open. At the age of 15, Sharon studied at Saegertown High
School, PA. At the same time, Sharon also entered Edinboro State University of
Pennsylvania, and graduated with a degree in creative writing and fine arts.
Sharon's IQ is estimated at 154. At 17, Sharon Stone won the Miss Pennsylvania
beauty contest, and she went on to become a successful Ford model, both
in TV commercials and print ads.
Sharon Stone finally received her big break with Arnold
Schwarzenegger in Total Recall (1990). That year she also posed nude for
Playboy. In 1992, her next major role came as a sociopath novelist in Basic
Instinct with Michael Douglas. Afterwards, MTV presented her with Most
Desirable Female and Best Female Performance awards. Her first Golden Globe and
Oscar nominations came for her role in Casino with Robert DeNiro in
1995. Also in 1995, Sharon received the Received the Knight of the Order of Arts
and Letters from the French government. Sharon now owns her own production
company, Chaos.
Sharon is a very active humanitarian. Sharon is a gay rights activist, and
she is a big supporter of the AIDS research organization AMFAR. After auctioning
a kiss in aid of Project Angel Foods, a Los Angeles charity that provides meals
for the homeless, Sharon passionately kissed fan Joni Rimm for charity after she
paid $50,000 for the pleasure in 2003. Sharon also made a teenage ballet star's
dreams come true by giving her $75,000 for tuition fees.
Sharon Stone's first husband was George Englund. In August 1984, Sharon Stone
married Michael Greenburg, but they were divorced in January of 1987. Sharon
dated Dwight Yoakam in the early 1990s, and was quoted as saying, "Kissing
Dwight is like eating a dirt sandwich." In 1998, Sharon married Phil Bronstein,
one of the editors of the San Francisco Examiner , and they adopted week old
Roan Joseph Bronstein (born May 22, 2000). Stone and Bronstein divorced in
January 2004.
